Every Thursday in December, it’s party time in lively Punda! Enjoy an evening of music, discovering cute trinkets and sampling delicious drinks at the cozy outdoor bars. Punda Thursday Vibes features a new theme each week, with performances by local artists and bands. And don’t forget to watch the spectacular fireworks at 8:15 p.m. – the perfect way to end your Thursday night!

Santa Run
On Saturday, Dec. 21, downtown Willemstad will be transformed into a Christmas paradise during the Santa Run! This annual event, celebrating its 8th edition this year, is not only a festive occasion to usher in the Christmas season, but also an initiative for a good cause. Participants gather at Rif Fort at 6 p.m., followed by a colorful Christmas parade through Renaissance at 7 p.m. The run begins at 8 p.m., after which the revelry continues with a fun after party at Madero Ocean Club starting at 8:30 p.m., featuring music from DJs and live acts. The Santa Run aims to raise money for underprivileged families so they too can experience a wonderful Christmas. Put on your cutest Santa suit and participate in this heartwarming event.

Christmas
In December, Curaçao transforms into a beautiful Christmas destination! The island remains warm and sunny, with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius, but everywhere you see festive lights, Christmas trees and colorful decorations. There are many cozy Christmas markets where you can sample local delicacies, buy fun gifts and enjoy live music. One of the first markets is the “Pieterman Christmas Fair” on Dec. 6 and 7. After that, you can also visit “Santa’s Village” on Wilhelminaplein from Dec. 15 to 24. For even more Christmas atmosphere, you can visit the “Curaçao Christmas Market” at the Riffort from December 20 to 23. At these markets you will experience Christmas in a tropical, Caribbean way!

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
In Curaçao, the New Year is celebrated in a big way. When the clock strikes midnight on December 31, fireworks burst into the sky above the beaches, hotels and streets of Willemstad. One of the most popular places to watch these fireworks is Mambo Beach. Here everyone gathers to festively celebrate the New Year. The island is also buzzing with energy on January 1, with friends and family gathering to usher in the New Year together.
